When I look in the mirror I don’t see a man,
I see a gear of war, a cog of the machine of death,
Fueled by the blood and innocence of young men,
Oiled by propaganda.

Therefore I cannot be a father or a lover,
So I can give my life,
So no one suffers my loss greatly,
So I may die to save many if I need be a sacrifice.

I am who I am because of what I believe in,
That some things in this world are worth fighting and dying for,
That the lives of the peaceful should be spared mine,
That some threats can only be met with lead and steel.

I see a soldier.

I saw my reflection on the way home and it got me thinking.

Written terribly in 5 minutes, in my head, on the way home.

But this reflection is one of my possible spin offs / futures if things had gone slightly differently in my life (darn I'm starting to talk as if my life is a novel :p)

More of like if the world I was born into was thrust into war and barbarically killing each other was the last and only means of protecting one's sovereignty :p Thank God we live in a peaceful world (for now at least)
